Draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and…

The Minister of Employment and Labour (Thembelani Waltermade Nxesi) published the Draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work for public comment from the date of publication.  Written comments on this draft should be submitted within 60 days of the publication of the notice in the Gazette.

Minimum Wage and other Labour Acts signed by the…

On the 23rd of November 2018, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed into law the much debated and publicized and oft criticized amendments to Labour Legislation which would, amongst others give effect to the national minimum wage of R 20.00 per hour.

These amendments are taking effect on the 1st of January 2019, and while various media outlets have reported widely on the broad impact of the Minimum Wage Bill, legislative processes have been implemented with a view to mitigate the spate of protracted strikes which have plagued business in recent years. HR City opposes Labour Legislation Law Amendments

Again HR City has elected to voice our concern over proposed amendments to labour legislation, including the implementation of the proposed Minimum Wage Bill (Read our Article Here).

Similarly to our actions in 2012 when HR City sought to intervene in what it viewed as dangerous and unfair changes to labour legislation (Read our Article Here) government has again sought to further restrict the rights of employers, even during an economic downturn which, in no small part is due to excessive over-regulation of the labour market.  Read more “HR City opposes Labour Legislation Law Amendments”
